About Us

Nayla Counselling Academy & Therapeutic Services has two tutors: Natalie & Michaela.
Michaela Borg

Counselling is my second career and I love it. I spent most of my career teaching in universities before signing up for a Level 2 counselling course and catching the bug. I’ve worked with clients with lots of different challenges, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, anger issues, those who have experienced loss and survived abuse.

When I’m not teaching and counselling, my happy time is walking my dogs and slowly doing up my cottage in North Wales.

Why Study with Nayla Counselling?

We provide a course that is affordable and a well-respected and well-established pathway into counselling. Our courses are accredited by the CPCAB and approved by Ofqual and the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), so that you can study with the assurance that our courses are recognised and of a high quality.

Both Nat and Michaela work according to British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Working within these guidelines means that we undertake regular supervision and continued professional development. We also must have up to date professional indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS clearance. We know that you have a busy life with lots of things going on and our course offer is intended to fit alongside your work, family and other commitments. You can study with us in a concentrated burst of one evening a week for 18 weeks (Level 2) or 20 weeks (Level 3). All of our study is online so it offers great flexibility without the commuting.

Nat and Michaela are experienced educators and know that not everyone wants to listen to endless lectures. Our courses are hands-on experiences where you will be engaged in activities and group or team work, exploring topics, feeding back to peers or practicing your skills.

We will teach you an approach to counselling that is known as an Integrative Model. Our Integrative Model provides a toolbox that includes different ideas and techniques brought together in a seamless package that allows you to work with the unique individual that you are helping.

It consists of Person-Centred counselling at the core, supporting you in building a strong therapeutic relationship that is empathic, non-judgemental and trusting. The Psychodynamic element supports you in exploring the past and seeing how it impacts on the present and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps us to identify unhelpful thoughts and beliefs and to change them.

We know that the current economic crisis means lots of people are feeling the crunch so we offer payment instalments to make it easier to train.
