Michaela Borg

My name is Michaela. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor specialising in bereavement & loss.

Loss can come in many forms and can feel overwhelming and life-changing. Whether you're grieving, having lost a loved one or a pet, or have some other loss such as a job loss, for example redundancy or retirement, losing your independence through illness or a relationship breakdown, I am here to provide support and help you work through the difficult emotions that you may be feeling. This may include feeling stuck in your grief, anxiety and panic, anger, depression, or loss of confidence and a sense of who you are. Your loss may also have left you feeling isolated or led to family conflict.

I understand that everyone's experience with loss is unique, and I will work with you to create a personalized approach that fits your individual needs, enabling you to find ways to move forward into a ‘new normal’ in a healthy and meaningful way. Counselling will provide a safe and compassionate space for you to explore your feelings and emotions around loss.

My goal is to help you find meaning and purpose in the midst of loss and to help you to find the tools and support you need to cope and move forward. To do that, I am committed to creating a non-judgmental and empathetic environment where you can feel supported and heard.

If you're struggling with bereavement or loss, please don't hesitate to reach out. I provide counselling online or by telephone so contact me today to set up a free 30-minute initial session. This will allow us to talk about how we can work together.

How I work with clients

I am a fully-insured member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical framework in all aspects of my counselling work.

I work with an integrative model of counselling which is a holistic approach that draws on several different theories and techniques to create a personalised plan that is tailored to each individual client. This approach recognises that each person is unique and therefore requires a customised approach that takes into account their individual needs, goals and circumstances.

Fees and appointments

To get started, please email me on borgcounselling@gmail.com or call 07714 037 007 and leave a message. I’ll call you back as soon as possible.

We will set up a free 30-minute telephone call when we can discuss how we may work together and I can tell you a little about my counselling service.

If we go on to work together then we will arrange weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes at an agreed time each week—I will try and accommodate shift work or irregular schedules if I can.

Sessions will be online or on the phone, as you prefer. The cost for this is £45 per session and you will need to pay in advance by BACs (bank transfer).

The number of sessions that you have is something we will review regularly and will depend on the complexity of your issues. This will always be your choice. Some clients need short-term treatment, often 6 to 12 sessions and others benefit from longer term counselling which can last as long as you need.
